Elton John and Lady Gaga have been carrying on a torrid mutual-admiration affair for much of the past year. The two pop icons have shared the stage several times and often have spoken highly of each other, but now they're ready to take it to the next level.
According to "Entertainment Weekly," the dynamic piano duo are planning on releasing a duet called "Hello, Hello" on the soundtrack to the forthcoming animated Disney film "Gnomeo & Juliet." The magazine describes the tune as "a charming pop track," and reports that it will be heard when the movie's two lead characters — lawn ornaments voiced by James McAvoy and Emily Blunt, respectively — first meet.
"Gnomeo & Juliet," produced by Sir Elton and his longtime partner, David Furnish, is slated to premiere on February 11, 2011.
While John has hinted that he'd love to appear on Gaga's upcoming Born This Way album, even if he doesn't, he's already given it his glittering stamp of approval.
"I've already heard [Gaga's new album], so I think it's more or less done," he told "EW" earlier this month. "Her record — it's f---ing amazing." He added that he was particularly enamored with one tune, saying, " 'Born This Way,' which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive.' This is the new 'I Will Survive.' That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it's not a gay anthem — it can apply to anybody."
While John is an old hand at movie soundtracks — including his Oscar-winning work on "The Lion King," as well as music for "The Road to El Dorado" — the "Gnomeo" song will be Gaga's first original contribution to a film.

Life is about to get much different for Martin Freeman. The star of the British version of "The Office" will suit up as Bilbo Baggins in the two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel "The Hobbit."
"Despite the various rumors and speculation surrounding this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us," director Peter Jackson said in a statement released on Thursday, according to BBC News. He called the 39-year-old Freeman "intelligent, funny, surprising and brave — exactly like Bilbo," and said he was perfect for the role. "There are a few times in your career when you come across an actor who you know was born to play a role, but that was the case as soon as I met Martin," Jackson said.
Freeman will inhabit the Shire alongside a crew of other lesser-known actors including Richard Armitage ("Captain America: The First Avenger") as Thorin Oakenshield, Aidan Turner ("Being Human") as Kili, Rob Kazinsky ("EastEnders") as Fili, Graham McTavish ("Secretariat") as Dwalin, John Callen as Olin, Stephen Hunter as Bombur, Mark Hadlow as Dori and Peter Hambleton as Gloin.
At press time it was unknown if Sir Ian McKellen would reprise his role as Gandalf or if Andy Serkis (Gollum) would appear in the films; other parts that still require casting include Elrond the sage, and the voice of the dragon. The movies are due to be released in December 2012 and December 2013.
The new crew is expected to start shooting the epic in February, though a recent dust-up with some professional unions may result in production being moved from New Zealand — where the three "Rings" movies were shot — to another location, with England, Canada and Australia being mentioned as potential front-runners.
"The actions of these unions have caused us substantial damage and disruption and forced us to consider other filming locations for the first time," the studios behind the films said in a statement. "Alternative locations are still being considered."

Will Smith's kids are having the best week ever.
First 9-year-old Willow Smith dropped her first music video — an infectious, Internet meme-generating take on her top-20 single, "Whip My Hair." Now it looks like her 12-year-old brother Jaden — who starred in the $358 million blockbuster "The Karate Kid" this summer — could be joining up with M. Night Shyamalan for a new project.
The "Last Airbender" director is said to be developing a top-secret sci-fi flick called "One Thousand A.E.," according to The Hollywood Reporter, and is eyeing Jaden Smith to star in it.
Jaden's parents, who produced "Karate Kid," are reportedly getting in on the action too. Shyamalan is said to be developing the film for Overbrook, the production slate run by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and others.
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but what we know now is that while Shyamalan plans to direct "A.E.," he will not pen the script, a departure from most of his previous work. Scripting duties are being carried out by Gary Whitta ("The Book of Eli"). There's also said to be a prominent role for an adult male, though Will Smith will not be signing up for the part.
In June, Shyamalan was shopping a project about a missing child — with Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow and Bruce Willis attached to star — but a buyer was never found. In addition to "A.E.," Shyamalan, in the role of producer, is pushing forward with the follow-up to "Devil," the first of a planned "Night Chronicles" trilogy. The second movie, called "Reincarnate," follows a jury haunted by supernatural forces that could help them decide their case.

Alicia Keys, Usher and Drake lead the list of nominees for the 2010 Soul Train Awards, it was announced on Monday (October 18).
New mother Keys and Usher are tied for the most nods with four apiece; Keys is up for Best R&B/Soul Artist Female, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Record of the Year, while Usher is up for Best R&B/Soul Artist Male, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Dance Performance.
Drake is just one nom behind the pace-setters. The Toronto lyricist scored nods in three categories: Best Hip Hop Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
Nicki Minaj, Ne-Yo, B.o.B Erykah Badu, Monica, Sade and Fantasia are among the other big nominees, each scoring two nods apiece. This year's Legends Awards recipients are veteran singers Ron Isley and Anita Baker.
R. Kelly is set to open the show, hosted for a second-straight year by actor Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. Rick Ross, Cee-Lo and Keyshia Cole are among the acts scheduled to perform. The 2010 Soul Train Awards are set for November 10 at Atlanta's Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and will air November 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on BET and Centric.
Last year marked the return of the seminal awards show, founded by "Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius, after a two-year hiatus. The 2009 production also took place in Atlanta and featured tributes to Chaka Khan, Charlie Wilson, L.A. Reid and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds.
